8

Climate sectors used for classification and reporting.

What counts as eligible

  • Direct climate revenue such as renewable generation, storage, EVs, and efficiency solutions.
  • Upstream materials and components essential to electrification and decarbonization.
  • Climate infrastructure such as grid equipment, transmission, solar construction, and water systems.

What does not count

  • Generic ESG branding without core climate revenue.
  • Companies merely using renewable energy internally.
  • Mixed fossil exposure where climate activity is not clearly dominant.

Index design

Climate50 uses a modified market-cap approach with a hard 8% cap on any single constituent. Excess weight from capped names is redistributed pro rata across the remaining uncapped constituents. The index does not use sector caps.

The goal is not to capture every company that sounds green. The goal is to hold a concentrated list of companies whose business models materially depend on the climate transition.
